Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody is the long-awaited 5-star rerun of the 2.6 patch [Until Tide Ends]. Released back in the 1.3 [Eerie Season] update, it was at that time the first purification outfit we got. With its dolls-like makeup and accessories and its dress inspired by Faewish Sprites, how does it hold up now, more than one year after its first release?

Reasons to pull

#1 Most of the pieces are really unique

More than a year after its release, Timeless Melody is still “timeless” and useful thanks to the key backpiece and the sleeves. It should be noted that the sleeves are not in the jacket section, but in the arm decoration. This means that dresses with sleeves will clip with them, and not be hidden underneath. Basically the only dresses that work with Timeless Melody sleeves are bustier dresses or tops. The key is also animated on its own and rotates just like a real one. If we put aside clothing with special effects, I think that the key is the only animated piece in the overworld.

The headwear [Moonlight Reminiscence] and the chocker [Tracing Soundtracks] are also really nice. I especially like how big the neckpiece is, because it will go on top of tops and dresses and give them a new look. I think that it can be pretty useful for clowncore outfits. The shoes [Tap-Tap Rhythm] are also pretty and elegant. This might be personal preferences, but for me they are the prettiest heels we’ve got so far. They do not have the usual stripper heels shape, which is so common in 5-stars banners.

The gloves [Resounding Melodies] slightly reminds me of the one we got in 2.4 [Crimson Moonlight]. So if you didn’t get it, it might be a great dupe. And of course, the hair [Time’s Warmth] is gorgeous too. It’s not as extravagant as the current hairstyles in recent 5-star banners. But the bouncy curls and the cute bang makes it stand out a lot. You can use it for a lot of different styles, so it’s pretty versatile. Again, I think it will look perfect with a clowncore look.

#2 The 4-star outfit has a white and black fur boa

I don’t have a lot to say about Spectral Mist, but the outerwear is really THE thing that I’ve been thinking about. The base is in white, but the glow-up is in black (aka the most wanted color). You don’t even need to complete the outfit to unlock the alternative color. We’ve only got 3 fur boas up until now: this one, the one from [Dreamy Glimmer] 4-star banner and this one which was an outfit you could get by spending (a lot) of money in the shop. In another words, it’s a rare piece that has fewer chances of appearing in new banners. Each one of the fur boas that we’ve got so far are pretty distinct. So if you like the style of the one from Spectral Mist, I think it’s a good idea to do some pulls and hopefully get it.

#3 The Momo’s Cloak is super cute

If you like the clowncore aesthetic like me, then this Momo’s Cloak might really tempt you. It’s one of the few 5-star banner cloak that makes Momo look a bit silly, just like the Crimson Rhapsody one. That’s not to say that you should do 140 pulls just to get it, but it’s another nice thing to consider about this banner.

#4 The photo prop is magical

I never use them, but the decoration for Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody is pretty unique too. Don’t forget that it can be a nice furniture on your island.

#5 The makeup is nice

The makeup can be a pro or a con depending on how you view it. It’s nothing special, but it naturally enhances Nikki’s features. New 5-star makeup all have glitters and decorations in their eyeshadows and eyebrows, which don’t really fit with a more casual outfit. The makeup from Timeless Melody feels like the best compromise, where it doesn’t look too noticeable but still changes Nikki’s look. It’s a no-makeup look!

Reasons to not pull for Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody

#1 The makeup is basic

Timeless Melody [Words Unspoken] are really similar to the one from the permanent banner [Dreamy Ripples]. Looking at them more closely, the Timeless Melody one has a bit more blush and a thicker eyeliner.

As for the lenses [Parting Song] reminds me of the one from Wings of Wishes set [After Rain], which reran in 2.1. Timeless Melody lenses are a bit more grayish and desaturated though.

#2 The dress looks too similar to Wishful Aurosa’s dress

They have the same chest piece and almost the shape and length, as well as a metal structure at the bottom. [Melody Restarted] does have bloomers underneath, since the fabric ends higher up than [Aurosa Bloom]. Both have an ambiguous length, which looks short and long at the same time. The positive aspect is that you can actually see socks and shoes while wearing them, unlike the ballgowns that we usually get.

Unless you go for more evos, Wishful Aurosa’s dress will always have more dye palettes than the Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody one. But if you really like the Wishful Aurosa’s dress, I still think it can be a good idea to pull for Timeless Melody since it’s the only other dress in this style we’ve got so far.

#3 The dress doesn’t dye well

Since Timeless Melody came out pre-1.5 where dyeing was first introduced, the dye isn’t the best. You might get pretty frustrated because colors might not look like what you have selected. Dyeing can already be a hassle once you see the final result in the overworld. So having difficulties in the wardrobe is a bit much. If you don’t really care about dyeing and just want to use the base outfit or evolutions, then that’s not a problem.

#4 The ability of Infinity NIkki Timeless Melody isn’t life-changing

Timeless Melody is a purification outfit that came in 1.3 and was powercrept multiple times. First by Forever Bond in 1.8 and now in Itzaland by Born Flawless and Guide of no Return. It doesn’t have any powerful attacks or dash unlike combat outfits that came out later on. And if you want to use it, you’ll have to modify your ability wheel accordingly.

The ultimate puts some enemies to sleep, but not all of them are receptive to the song you’ll play. For instance, some mobs don’t react in the Boneyard. If certain enemies are still awake, they will attack you which will end the lullaby and make every mobs wake up. Another use of this ultimate is for grooming animals that get scared easily. I haven’t found out if this is a great alternative for [Enchanted Encounter] which is the only 5-star with the grooming ability. Keep in mind that to use Timeless Melody like this, you’ll have to swap out quickly for your grooming ability outfit. Whereas with Enchanted Encounter, you only need one outfit.

#5 The glow up is green

The glow up is basically a free evolution, so it’s always nice to unlock it when it’s a good-looking one. Unfortunately, Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody glow up turns out to be a dark green. At least it has darker brown hair that can almost look like black depending on your photo settings…

#6 The best palettes are locked in 2nd evo

By completing the outfit once, you’ll only 2 green 1 blue palettes. Since the base outfit is already in blue and the glow up is green, it doesn’t feel like a useful addition. The prettiest pink and purple palettes are only unlockable with the 2nd evolution. In fact, all the pink palettes are only available with the 2nd evo. So if you want to perfectly color match your outfits with the arm decoration, this is something to take into account. You can find the dye palettes on the website Aeternova.

Conclusion for Infinity Nikki Timeless Melody

Even if Timeless Melody’s dress shares some similarities with the Wishful Aurosa’s one, it’s still a fairly unique dress with no other 5-star dresses looking like it even one year after its release. The accessories are also one of a kind. So I think I’ll be pulling at first for the makeup and the fur boa and see where it gets me… I’m really torn about the Momo’s cloak because it might be one of my favorite cloak. But I also like to swap them out regularly, so I don’t know what to do!
