Somehow, I wasn’t really invested in this patch. I wasn’t particulary excited about the new map or the new banners, and my interest fizzled out even more during the second half of the patch when I started playing Overwatch again after all these years! So this will be a succinct diary for the patch [Chromatic Beings Everbright]…
The limited banners
The Linglang style isn’t my favorite, so I hold off on my wishes but made an exception to pull for the makeup. I especially love the eyelashes [Moss Upon Jade] as they really make Nikki look seductive! Unlike everyone else, I wasn’t a fan of the doe transformation ability. In fact, it made me quite uneasy seeing Nikki turn into an animal lol.
The shapeshifting ability made me really question if I should complete or not the [Where Wanxiang Weaves Life] set but I decided not to since I think the change inexpression isn’t that noticeable once you put makeup on. I also prefer seeing Nikki’s features and this ability can make her look uncanny, as if she isn’t herself. Typing this kind of me reminds of that time when the devs suddenly changed Momo’s eyes and it was so akward that they reverted it. It’s also a clunky ability since you have to put on the outfit, activate the transformation, go back into your wardrobe to see if it fits what outfit you had in mind… It’s not a slider in your wardrobe that allows you to change her expression. Taking normal pictures can already be a hassle, so I think that I made the right choice!

The new event
I never played mahjong before and don’t really have the patience to learn it. As for the hotpot game, it was so boring! Just like in 2.1 [Life as a Poem], I feel like they had a clear reference that they wanted to emulate but ended up making a watered-down version. If they wanted to create Diner Dash-type of gameplay, there should have been a timer, a combo system where you get more rewards if you get the orders correctly… Funnily enough, Love and Deepspace which happen to get a Chinese New Year’s inspired banner at the same time also got a minigame where you had to run a restaurant, and I believe it was handled better.
The new story
I don’t have a lot to say as I wasn’t focused on the story at all. I’m glad we got to see Tanyouyou again but even he seemed bored lol. Like his eyes weren’t really animated and he looked like a robot most of the time. Was he like this in Wishfield too? I found the finale really boring — jumping on easy platforms and doing minigames in between felt like a lazy way to end it.

My favorite outfit
I tried diferent outfits with the new sleeves [Veiled Dream] that I got. They didn’t work with as many clothes as I’d hoped, but I ended up creating an outfit I quite liked. I really like Nikki in more masculine attire, and this fits her so well!
