Flibbius McDoogle and the Mysterious Flying Machine is a short adventure puzzle game. Use your wits, creativity and puzzle solving ability to help Flibbius take to the skies!
As I started the game, I was welcomed with a really well-made video with a uptempo beat and an old narrator reading out loud the letter received by our character. His uncle tells him about a flying machine, a rumour from a sailor he meet on his own adventure. Since he comes from a line of great explorers, he dares Flibbius to go search for it.
The contrast between this small opening and the graphics of the game was a bit off-putting at first and didn’t really make him justice. The trailer looked like an animated movie with beautiful lightining, shadows and colors while the actual game uses a more desatured palette with no shadows. It looks nice on its own, but having an intro this polished was an odd choice I would say.
In order to find this great machine, Flibbius leaves his isolated island for another one, which has flamboyant creatures as residents. This is a puzzle game with point and click mechanics: you explore the place, gather different items and try to assemble them or use them in the environnement. I always struggle a bit with these games, so I had to rely on a walkthrough at some points. The game give you hints if you are trying to combine objects that are partially correct. And there seems to be multiple solutions to puzzles.
Aside from the gameplay, the dialogues were a nice touch and were sprinkled with some humour that gave life to the game.
This is a small project, created and published by a couple, and I’m quite impressed with what they were able to do! A new installment is expected to release in late 2026, and I will most probably also play it. For some reason, I just love to play as an animal (lol) and Flibbius is really endearing, so I want to see him on more adventures!
If you like games like A Short Hike or Lil Gator Game, than Flibbius McDoogle will be a lovely discovery! A demo is also available through Steam and Itch.io.
