General
The play time of each game is taken from VNDB and is an estimation from players who registered their play time on the website. It might take you more or less time, based on your player profile and habits (skipping voices, skipping bad endings…).
Mobile games are not listed here.
Some games have an additionnal informations icon that you can hover with your cursor for more details.
The date of release is for the western market, not the japanese one.
When the games are divided by year of release, the first games on the list will be commercial otome with the most games, followed by mobile ports.
About developpers
Not all developpers are listed in the dropdown, only those with more than 1 game made.
About tech
Physical editions only include the english version.
About genres
Some of them are directly from VNDB, others from my own experience of the game or my own interpretation of the game synopsis.
- Angsty: depressing games with bittersweet moments or games that feel “edgy” (I don’t know if this makes much sense…)
- Comedy: funny games, intentionally or not.
- Supernatural: games set in a normal, modern life, but with something that doesn’t make it quite feel real (in Amnesia, you have a fairy following you, in Cupid Parasite, you are a Goddess…).
- Fantasy: games set in a world with its own set of rules, creatures… Isekai subgenre is included.
- Science-Fiction: games where advanced technology is used. Steampunk subgenre is included.
- Historic: games who takes inspiration from a specific time period. Might or might not be accurate to their source material.
About settings
I’m excluding here characters who are office-workers, college or high school students. The story must take place in an office, college or high school.
About tropes
Those trope are general to the overall game, not a specific character from the game itself.
- Found family: games where the Main Character and all the Love Interests interact with each other naturally. The LIs do not act like they are rivals, and even work together.
- Penny Among Diamonds: games where the MC isn’t particulary rich or succesful, but somehow still ends up with handsome and rich men looking for her attention.
About content
- H-scene: games with suggested sex scenes from the description, that may end up abruptly, or games with actual sex scenes in it with graphic CGIs (only Kalmia8 games as far as I know)
